Half road-construction project, half skateboard park, this curious toy features an unfinished highway in the shape of a halfpipe. Two windup cars, Police Car and Street Racer, chase each other around the track with the press of an activation button. A jump propels the cars over a missing section of road, while a roadblock net helps the cops capture the Racer. All in all, it seems like trouble waiting to happen. There's also an "underground tunnel"--in the center of the track, below street level--for the cars to whip through. A carrying handle helps you take the track with you, and its ends fold up for easier transport, but the toy does take up a lot of room. There are storage cubbies for the two cars, and their chassis are interchangeable. No batteries are required. --Andy Boynton

Great toy for many years and multiple kids
This is the most awesome toy that we have ever purchased. Purchased at least 5 years ago, all 3 of our kids (2 boys, 1 girl, ages 10-2) love to play with this toy. With no batteries for operation and excellent durability, this one is the only modern day toy worthy of being passed along through generations. 99.9% of the toys are played with infrequently and out to donations within 2-3 years, but not this one. It is right up there with Legos for toy longevity. For younger kids, it helps them learn that steps must be performed in a certain order to get the result. It is a bit difficult for those under 5 to operate and they will need help. The Superstars Half Pipe Highway would get 100 stars if possible. Playschool MUST bring it back and other Superstars tracks/cars.
Best preschool racetrack out there!
After researching the Shake and Go racetrack, and reading multiple complaints about the track falling apart and the cars needing to be recharged, I eventually found my way to the Preskool Speedstars. Unfortunately, Preskool has stopped making these toys, so I had to purchase mine from eBay. I paid $37 for a brand new one, and it was worth every penny.
The track has two elevated curves on either side that the cars seem to fly up and down! They move fast enough to jump an 8 inch break in the roadway and continue racing when they land on the other side. My three year old is able to wind the cars, place them in the right slots, and start the race all by himself. He especially likes the net that can be lowered to catch one of the cars mid-race.
The cars have no trouble making it abound the track 4 to 5 times when fully wound. They require no batteries, and need to be cranked on the attached winder. Both cars (a red racer and a police car) can be wound at the same time. Best of all, they CANNOT be overwound.
In the center of the track is a lowered, straight track with a doorlike structure that can be busted through. Nothing too exciting there, but a cute extra.
Overall I would highly recommend this product. It is an all-in-one racetrack with a place for the cars to be stored, a handle to carry it, and it even folds up to be stored under the bed.
Birthday Gift
I bought this item for a birthday gift and the feedback from the childs Mother is that this toy is a hit. I haven't seen the toy yet, but my freind say it's very durable and a toy that requires no batteries is even better. With the positive review, I think I am going to get one of these for my son.
they just kept playing
we bought this for my son's birthday party. we had to tell all the kids and some adults to stop playing and come get some cake. my children still play with this race track everyday. the fact that there are no batteries is a BIG plus.
Great battery free toy!!
My four year old LOVES this race track!! And I love that it does not require batteries! My two year old has even learned to use it and loves it too. It is a great race track for younger kids and it is quite fun and really works. We've had ours for several months and have had no troulbe and the boys still LOVE it.
